Dining with the Potato Eaters

Yellow House members dine with the painting

On 16 April, the members of The Yellow House, the network of friends for private benefactors, dined beneath the painting The Potato Eaters in the Van Gogh Museum. The dinner was organised to thank them for their support for the museum. An event is held each year for the members of this network, but they had never before dined amongst the works of Van Gogh.

The Potato Eaters

In the style of, and inspired by the painting, the evening's five-course meal featured potatoes. Hotel De L’Europe very generously offered the dinner. The hosts from the museum were director Axel Rüger, advisor to the board Willem van Gogh (great-grandson of Theo van Gogh, the brother of Vincent) and Prof. Louis van Tilborgh. As senior researcher, the latter provided an explanation of the painting as well as in-depth information.
